Re-inventing Public Administration in Egypt (송도논집 1권, 89-122) |

Mosaad Radwan Abdel Hammed* Public Administration is increasingly subject to pressure, especially, in developing countries in order to operate differently from the past and use new techniques in management. The New Public Management (NPM) concept reflects the trail to adopt the efficient business organizations management elements in public administration management in order to be more efficient and effective. This paper aims to map some of the issues around the public administration re-inventing and examine its applicability in the Egyptian context. The study analyzed the scientific literature and the government documents to identify the status of the re-inventing concept in the Egyptian government practices. Following on from the introductory section, the paper is comprised of three sections. Section two gives a general background to issues around government re-innovation concept, development and fundamentals. Section three identifies and analyzes driving forces for the public administration re-inventing in Egypt. Meanwhile section four draws some Conclusions concerning the Egyptian public administration based on discussion presented.
